Who we are

This website is operated by Property Valuation Vic, a property valuation practice run by Tom Nagy, Certified Practising Valuer. The practice is a sole practitioner business based in Victoria. This policy explains how personal information is handled, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What information is collected

Enquiries

When you make an enquiry, the following may be collected:

your name
your phone number and email address
the address of the property
the purpose of the valuation, and any other details you choose to include

Valuation work

To prepare a valuation, you or your advisers may provide information about the property, such as contracts of sale, plans, photos, leases and the names of other parties (for example a co-owner, executor or lawyer). Property information is also gathered from inspections and property data sources.

How it is collected

Information is collected when you:

phone or email
provide documents for a valuation

Website forms may be processed and stored by a third-party customer relationship management (CRM) provider.

Website analytics and cookies

This website uses Google Analytics 4, which uses cookies, to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed. The information is used in aggregate to improve the site, not to identify you. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)

The enquiry forms on this website are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a service provided by Cloudflare, Inc. that checks whether a form is being sent by a person or by an automated program (a "bot"). The check runs automatically in the background, so you will not normally see it or need to do anything.

To carry out the check, Turnstile collects technical information from your browser and device (which Cloudflare calls "signals"), such as:

your IP address
your browser's TLS fingerprint and user agent (browser and device type)
the site key and address of the page the form is on

Cloudflare uses these signals in two ways:

On behalf of this website, to detect and block bots. For this purpose Cloudflare acts as a data processor.
For its own purposes, to refine and improve its bot detection. For this purpose Cloudflare acts as a data controller, and its own privacy policy applies.

Cloudflare states that these signals are strictly necessary to detect and block bots. They are not used by this website to identify you. Cloudflare may process them outside Australia, including in the United States.

Why your information is used

Your personal information is used to:

respond to your enquiry and give you a quote
prepare, deliver and invoice your valuation
contact you about your valuation, including arranging an inspection
keep records required by law and professional standards
improve this website

Your details will not be sold, and you will not be added to a marketing list without your consent.

When information is disclosed

Your information is only disclosed:

as needed to carry out the valuation you have asked for
to people or organisations you instruct the report to be provided to, such as your lawyer, accountant, auditor or another party to a matter
to service providers who help run the business, such as CRM, email, hosting, cloud storage and spam protection (Cloudflare) providers
where required or authorised by law, for example under a court order or to a professional or regulatory body

Storage and security

Reasonable steps are taken to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Records are kept for as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal and professional obligations, then securely destroyed or de-identified. No system is completely secure, so please take care when emailing sensitive information.

Overseas disclosure

Some service providers, including cloud, email, analytics, CRM and spam protection (Cloudflare) providers, may store or process data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. Reasonable steps are taken to use providers with appropriate privacy and security practices.

Access and correction

You can ask for access to the personal information held about you, or ask for it to be corrected if it is wrong or out of date. Email tom@propertyvaluationvic.com.au. You may be asked to confirm your identity. If access or correction is refused, you will be told why, where the law allows.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how your personal information has been handled, please email tom@propertyvaluationvic.com.au first. Your complaint will be looked into and answered within a reasonable time.

If you are not satisfied with the response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be on this page.
